LUMIN today introduced the S2, a next-generation network player engineered to deliver the sound quality of the flagship LUMIN X1 within the self-contained, CNC-Machined footprint of the T3X chassis.

By adapting the reference X1 ultra-low-noise power supply—custom-shielded to fit directly inside the main housing—LUMIN eliminated the external power enclosure while maintaining exceptional signal purity. At its core, the S2 retains the X1’s signature dual ES9038PRO SABRE DAC architecture and dual-mono analog circuit topology, delivering high dynamic range and subtle musical detail.

Expanding beyond traditional streaming, the S2 introduces dedicated optical and coaxial SPDIF inputs. This addition converts the streamer into a versatile digital hub, enabling external components like CD transports, set-top boxes, and gaming consoles to route through LUMIN’s reference DAC.

Core Highlights of the LUMIN S2

Reference X1 Architecture: Dual ES9038PRO SABRE DAC chips configured in dual-mono mode, paired with LUMIN’s matched analog output stage for realistic timbre and spatial resolution.

T3X Form Factor: CNC-machined aluminum enclosure offers rigidity, low vibration, and clean visual integration into any hi-fi rack.

Internalized Reference Power: Modified and shielded X1 power supply integrated directly within the main chassis to safeguard signal lines from noise.

Standalone DAC Capabilities: Added Optical and Coaxial SPDIF inputs allow external digital sources to tap directly into the S2’s internal clock and converter.

Optical Network Port: Built-in optical fiber networking isolates the player from electrical noise generated by standard Ethernet gear and home routers.

Dual Femto Clocks: Precision crystal oscillators deliver tight clocking accuracy to reduce jitter across all digital inputs and streaming feeds.

Broad High-Res Format Support: Full compatibility with PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz, native DSD512, and MQA decoding.

Ecosystem Compatibility: Seamless streaming through TIDAL Connect (including Tidal MAX), Qobuz, Spotify Connect, KKBOX, Amazon Music, AirPlay, Roon Ready, JPlay, and Audirvana, all managed via the LUMIN app for iOS and Android.

In essence, the LUMIN S2 is designed for audiophiles who refuse to compromise on sound quality but desire the simplicity of a single-box system. By condensing the X1’s legendary architecture and power supply into a single chassis, and expanding its utility with dedicated digital inputs, the S2 represents a compelling new sweet spot in high-end audio—delivering breathtaking musicality and modern convenience in equal measure.
